The arrival of February brings with it a full athletics calendar, with winter sports still going strong and the start of spring sports as well.

February is often a time of appreciating what we have and celebrating the communities that we’re connected to. Belonging is important for all of us, and this month’s newsletter has lots of great information about how to get connected, find community, and access resources here at Michigan!
Trotter Multicultural Center - Soul Food Sundays and Framing our Future
We are excited to invite everyone to Soul Food Sundays, which is returning every Sunday during the month of February in celebration of Black History Month. Trotter Multicultural Center is excited to announce that we are sourcing photo subjects and artistic submissions for the Framing Our Future initiative.
Belonging and Conflict
Belonging to a community makes us feel safe and cared for, but it can be hard to get to that place for various reasons. Office of Student Conflict Resolution (OSCR) staff members are available to share knowledge and skills to help you navigate conflict and develop a stronger sense of belonging in your communities.
Empowerment Self Defense
U-M students, faculty and staff are invited to take control of their personal safety by learning physical and verbal strategies to counter violence through our empowerment self-defense workshops.
Belonging and Q’mmunity at the Spectrum Center
Spectrum Center's new essential needs grant program is open to all currently enrolled students at UM-Ann Arbor experiencing hardship related to their gender and/or sexuality. We're inviting the University of Michigan community to donate clothing and accessories to help stock Spectrum Center's Gender Affirming Clothing Closet. Let’s get together for Q’mmunity Q’nnections this winter—social drop-in spaces for students with similar identities.
UHC and reproductive healthcare resources
University Health & Counseling (UHC) has created a survey in partnership with campus leaders, to gauge student interest in the reproductive health care resources offered by UHC.
Beyond The Diag is hiring!
Beyond the Diag is looking for off-campus students who are interested in fostering community among students who live off campus and improving communication between students, the university, and the Ann Arbor community. There are a few opportunities to join the Beyond The Diag team for the Winter 2025 semester. We are also seeking applications for the 2025-2026 academic year.
Sustainability in Ann Arbor
A key part of belonging is being part of a community, and there are plenty of ways to connect with and support the wider community in Ann Arbor, including by visiting one of the many thrift and second-hand stores.
