Beyond The Diag - February 2025

Column 1

February is often a time of appreciating what we have and celebrating the communities that we’re connected to. Belonging is important for all of us, and this month’s newsletter has lots of great information about how to get connected, find community, and access resources here at Michigan!

Michigan Athletics

The arrival of February brings with it a full athletics calendar, with winter sports still going strong and the start of spring sports as well.

Wheelchair Basketball Comes to Crisler!

For the first time ever, the U-M Wheelchair Basketball team will be playing a home game at the Crisler Center. They will be taking on our arch-rivals from Michigan State, so this is a great opportunity to cheer on our Wolverines!

International Wellness Fair - you are invited!

The International Center is hosting the International Wellness Fair on February 19, 4:30-6:00 pm. The event will take place in the Student Activities Building Lobby and is open to all students, scholars, faculty and staff.

Trotter Multicultural Center - Soul Food Sundays and Framing our Future

We are excited to invite everyone to Soul Food Sundays, which is returning every Sunday during the month of February in celebration of Black History Month. Trotter Multicultural Center is excited to announce that we are sourcing photo subjects and artistic submissions for the Framing Our Future initiative.

Belonging and Conflict

Belonging to a community makes us feel safe and cared for, but it can be hard to get to that place for various reasons. Office of Student Conflict Resolution (OSCR) staff members are available to share knowledge and skills to help you navigate conflict and develop a stronger sense of belonging in your communities.

Empowerment Self Defense

U-M students, faculty and staff are invited to take control of their personal safety by learning physical and verbal strategies to counter violence through our empowerment self-defense workshops.

Wellness and Belonging at the University of Michigan

Belonging. It’s more than just finding a seat in the lecture hall or a group chat to join; it’s the sense that you are truly seen, heard, and valued for who you are. At Wolverine Wellness, we understand that fostering belonging isn’t a one-size-fits-all endeavor.

Belonging and Q’mmunity at the Spectrum Center

Spectrum Center's new essential needs grant program is open to all currently enrolled students at UM-Ann Arbor experiencing hardship related to their gender and/or sexuality. We're inviting the University of Michigan community to donate clothing and accessories to help stock Spectrum Center's Gender Affirming Clothing Closet. Let’s get together for Q’mmunity Q’nnections this winter—social drop-in spaces for students with similar identities.

UHC and reproductive healthcare resources

University Health & Counseling (UHC) has created a survey in partnership with campus leaders, to gauge student interest in the reproductive health care resources offered by UHC.

Beyond The Diag is hiring!

There are a few opportunities to join the Beyond The Diag team for the Winter 2025 semester. We are also seeking applications for the 2025-2026 academic year.
