Together we thrive: Announcing U-M's Transgender Awareness Month calendar

Spectrum Center will host a joyful and educational set of events and programming for Transgender Awareness Month this November, including a keynote on kiki methodology by Dr. Quortne Hutchings, a name change info session and a passport clinic, Transgender Day of Remembrance banquet, and more.

The Office of Multi-Ethnic Student Affairs, Native American Student Association, and partners across campus are thrilled to share a fun and timely slate of November programming in honor and celebration of Native American Heritage Month.

The Program on Intergroup Relations is seeking a graduate student instructor for ALA 122: Intergroup Dialogues. In Intergroup Dialogues, undergraduate students participate in semi-structured face-to-face meetings across different social identity groups led by peer facilitators.

 

Nov. 13: For Us, By Us: Envisioning a Kiki Methodology in Black Queer Storytelling

Explore a kiki methodology grounded in ballroom culture and Black queer storytelling, and engage around what is needed to be in queer community and kinship through storytelling.

 

Nov. 15: QTBIPOC Kickbacks

Find your community. Join MESA, Spectrum, and Trotter for community and meals, centering students who are queer and trans Black, indigenous, and people of color. Drop in to the MESA/Spectrum shared space at the Union, grab food, and hang out!

 

Nov. 18: Trans and Nonbinary Passport Clinic

During this event, the Washtenaw County Clerk's office will assist students and community members to apply for, renew, or make changes to their passport in the form of a name change or updated gender marker.

 

Nov. 20: Trans Day of Remembrance Banquet

Join our annual memorial observance honoring the transgender people whose lives were lost this past year due to acts of anti-trans violence. We will share a meal, read the names of those we have lost, and hear remarks from lecturer Raja Benz, along with students Fime de la Fuente, Daniel Chavez, and Melodie Jaeger.
