Maintaining good behavior during Fall festivities is important to ensure safety and respect for others. Here's a list of Halloween Tips to keep students safe throughout the month of October:

Costume Choices:

  • Select costumes that are creative and fun but avoid those that perpetuate stereotypes or offend others.
  • Be sensitive to cultural, racial, and gender-related issues when choosing your costume.

Practice Responsible Drinking:

  • If you choose to drink alcohol, do so responsibly and in moderation.
  • Never drink and drive; arrange for a designated driver or alternative transportation.

Respect Noise Levels:

  • Keep the volume down during house parties and gatherings to avoid disturbing neighbors.
  • Be mindful of local noise ordinances and curfew hours.

Clean Up After Yourself:

  • Whether at a party, parade, or any other event, clean up any litter or trash you generate.
  • Leave public spaces as clean as you found them.

Be Mindful of Safety:

  • Make sure your costume is safe and doesn't impede your ability to see or move.
  • Use reflective materials or carry a flashlight if you're out at night.
  • Look out for your friends and ensure their safety as well.

Respect Property and Decorations:

  • Don't vandalize or damage property, including Halloween decorations.
  • Obtain permission if you plan to decorate public spaces or private property.

Offer Inclusive Activities:

  • Host inclusive events and activities that allow everyone to participate, regardless of cultural or religious backgrounds.

Avoid Cultural Appropriation:

  • Be cautious that you are not appropriating cultures in your costume choices or decorations.
  • Educate yourself on the potential cultural significance of elements in your Halloween attire.

Be Respectful of Law Enforcement:

  • Cooperate with law enforcement officers and security personnel if they are present at events.
  • Avoid confrontations and follow their instructions.
