Column 1
It's the start of a new semester, and a new year - and there's a lot happening, both on and off-campus! Take a look at our latest newsletter for all the latest information and resources!
On Monday, January 16, in honor and celebration of the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. a number of events took place for members of our community.
The keynote address included a dynamic mix of local and national speakers and performances, and we are excited to host the event in person for the first time since 2020. If you were not able to watch the address in-person or as a livestream video, you can access the recording here.
This year, Black History Month (BHM) is an intentional partnership between The Office of Multi-Ethnic Student Affairs (MESA) and student organizations, Support for Incoming Black Students (S.I.B.S.) and the Black Student Union (BSU). Together, we are working together with a committee of 11 to make Black History Month a memorable experience for students, staff and faculty at the University of Michigan. Please stay tuned for updates and details.
Don’t miss out on Beyond The Diag’s in-person Winter Housing Fairs! Last semester, Beyond the Diag hosted two in-person Housing Fairs, which offered students an opportunity to connect with off-campus housing providers, to learn more about off-campus housing options and find out about support for students who live off-campus. Alongside this, we also offered a Virtual Housing Fair, for people who may not currently be on campus.
Beyond the Diag will be hosting in-person office hours again this semester. Our office hours are available to all University of Michigan students, to answer questions or address concerns about off-campus living. During our office hours, a student team member will be available to provide information and resources about living off-campus. Our student staff members are upperclass and graduate students, and are familiar with some of the experiences, benefits, and challenges that can come with living off-campus.
The new semester has arrived! Michigan Dining has collaborated with MHealthy and an on-campus carbon impact research team to bring two new icons to our dining hall and retail menu boards. These two icons are connected to your food's carbon footprint and help you pick foods that support basic nutrition.
The Office of Student Conflict Resolution (OSCR) is providing some help tips on how to successfully navigate conflicts with others. This month’s topic is "I” statements.
The Dean of Students Office is accepting applications for Winter 2023 Leadership Engagement Scholarships. These scholarships are designed to support student leaders and reduce cost barriers associated with participating in extracurricular activities at U-M. Scholarships are available for undergraduate, graduate, and professional students who are currently enrolled in classes at U-M Ann Arbor.
Students can apply through January 20, 2023 with award notices and disbursement starting in early February 2023.
