ICYMI: Maize Days

Recently, the Vice President of Student Life, Dr. Martino Harmon, sent out an email with information regarding University of Michigan’s philanthropic week-long event: Maize Days. Maize Days will be from March 14th through March 18th and is an exciting week where students can showcase what causes and organizations are meaningful to them across our campus community. Check out the following information for a recap of information from Dr. Harmon!

Schedule of Events:

  • Monday March 14 - Tuesday March 15: The kickoff event is Creations for Causes, an expression of what philanthropy means to students. I invite you to submit a "creation" in any medium of your choice that expresses what philanthropy means to you for the chance to win money for a U-M cause of your choice.

    • You may submit an image or video of your creation from March 7 through 6pm on March 13. Students can submit as an individual or on behalf of their student organization. There are three org categories based on membership size.

    • Even if you do not make a submission, I invite you to vote for winners on March 14-15. Each category will have a winner awarded $150 to their cause.

    • The submission and voting forms, prize details, and other specific details about this event can be found on the Creations for Causes tab at maizedays.umich.edu.

  • Wednesday March 16: the university will be hosting our eighth Giving Blue Day, a 24-hour fundraising campaign that helps support nearly every aspect of our university. Last year, thousands of students donated to and raised money for a number of U-M causes, and we look forward to seeing what we will all accomplish this year. Visit givingblueday.org to find and support a cause you are passionate about.

  • Thursday March 17 - Friday March 18: we will be hosting our eleventh annual Hail Yeah!, a university-wide day of appreciation for U-M's alumni donors. There are a number of in-person events across the university, plus an online option. I invite you to click on the Hail Yeah! tab at maizedays.umich.edu to see the list of locations, days, and times and to submit thank you messages (typed or videos) to our alumni donors. In exchange for your thank you message, participants will receive a free Hail Yeah! T-shirt, while supplies last, to continue celebrating beyond the event.
