February 14th can be a fun and special day for some, but can also be a hard day for many people. There’s the flood of social media posts, store ads, and the constant pressure to buy gifts or flowers for loved ones. For those that may be single, Valentine's Day can sometimes be thought of as one of the most difficult days of the year.

However, it doesn’t have to be that way. Here at Beyond The Diag, we’ve put together some simple ideas for you to enjoy the day - no matter your relationship status:

Hang Out With Your Friends

Try to make plans with a friend or a few friends. Galentine’s Day has gained so much traction over the years, but have you ever done a flower exchange with your buddies? Some other options could include dinner, watching the newest movie that’s out now (either in the theater or on Netflix) or just grabbing some coffee.

Treat Yourself To A Gift

Even if you don't want a cliche Valentine's Day gift, you can definitely get yourself something you have been wanting - maybe those new pair of sneakers you saw online? Many places offer special Valentine’s Day offers and discounts!

Meditate, Or Practice Yoga

Take some quiet time to yourself to reflect, slow down, and de-stress. The “Calm” app can help you be in the right frame of mind to relax and then take on the day. Hot yoga is also popular, and could be a great way to step away from the Val’s Day stress!

Make Something You Love For Dinner

If you love to cook, try cheffing up something new and exciting. It's a great way to keep yourself distracted, feel accomplished, and just eat something good! Plus, it’s cheaper than going to a “fancy” restaurant!

Take A Social Media Break

Social media can be exhausting and stressful, especially on holidays like Valentine's Day. People often post either pictures of how they're celebrating with their significant other or quotes about how they hate the day. Instead of forcing yourself to scroll through all of that, focus on doing something you like — you'll probably feel much better.

Write Down What You're Grateful For

Write down a list of everything you're grateful for. Read it over, stick in on your bedroom wall or bathroom mirror. Sometimes the simple act of being thankful can help to give us a more positive outlook!

Check Something Off Your To-Do List

Feeling like you’ve been able to accomplish something you have on that to-do list for a while can give us a boost of positivity. If there’s something that you want to complete, maybe set some time aside so you can check it off!
