Welcome back!
With the start of winter semester, there are many great opportunities that are available through Rec Sports. All are great ways to achieve your fitness and well-being goals, meet new friends and do something nice for yourself!
Facilities and Classes
Remember, as students you have free unlimited access to our facilities. This includes the Intramural Sports Building (IMSB), North Campus Recreation Building (NCRB) and the Palmer Field Temporary Facility. We also offer Group-X and Specialized Group Training classes as well as Personal Training, led by certified instructors. And speaking of Group-X we are offering free classes from January 8 – 14. This is your chance to try out a variety of classes so check out the class schedule and sign up!
Club and Intramural Sports
If you are interested in team sports we have several offerings there, too. We have 30 Club Sports teams who compete for national championships against colleges and universities from around the country. If you are looking for competition but perhaps something a little more casual, Intramural Sports would be a great match for you. It offers a wide variety of sports including basketball, volleyball, pickleball, euchre and many more. You can create your own team or if you are looking for a team you can sign up as a free agent and we will place you on a team. If video gaming is your thing check out Esports where you will find a community of fun and competition.
Adventure Leadership
Are you looking for a little more adventure in your life and a chance to connect with nature? Take a look at the offerings with Adventure Leadership. They offer a variety of trips throughout the semester—everything from meditative nature walks in the Arboretum, to ice climbing, to dog sledding and hiking in our beautiful state of Michigan.
If you would like to learn more about connecting with nature, be sure to check out our Michigan Outdoor Leadership Education Series (MOLES) program. If you want to create your own adventure visit our Rental Center and they will set you up with the gear you need. We also have great team building opportunities for your study group or student organization at the Adventure Education Center. The center features low and high ropes courses as well as other fun and interactive ways to really get your team working well together.
