The annual Big Heart Blood Battle against MSU, Penn State, and Wisconsin is well underway, and is running until February 23.
On January 7, 2024, the Red Cross declared an emergency blood shortage, with blood donations reaching an all-time low in the past twenty years. Please consider donating. The Blood Battle is an excellent way to beat other Big Ten schools AND positively impact the national supply shortage.
Until February 23, donors receive a free Big Heart shirt and a Washtenaw Dairy coupon while supplies last, and, in the month of February, donors will also receive a free $20 Amazon gift card.

- When you schedule an appointment, click "Refine Search" and type in the sponsor code "goblue" to see drives that are part of this competition. You can also schedule your appointment through the Red Cross donor app.
- Before donating, review eligibility requirements and complete your Rapid Pass the day of your appointment to save time.
- The FDA recently updated their eligibility guidelines with an individualized risk assessment for all donors. This is a significant step towards repairing the harm caused by a prior policy that banned some donors based on their sexual practices.
- Please eat iron-rich foods and drink plenty of water before you donate blood so that you are healthy on the day of your donation.
