Beyond the Diag - Off Campus Housing

Mobile Food Distribution

As well as the main Maize & Blue Cupboard location on Central Campus, there is also a mobile food distribution event, taking place on North Campus on Wednesday, October 13, 2:00-4:00pm. The event will take place in the NW10 parking lot. To reserve for a food collection slot, please sign up using this form.

Maize and Blue Cupboard

Accessing food resources is an important part of a healthy lifestyle, but unfortunately, some students may face additional challenges accessing sufficient, affordable, and nutritious food. The Maize and Blue Cupboard (MBC) is available to  students as an on-campus food resource by offering them healthy and nutritious food for free, in a grocery-store-like space.

Campus COVID-19 Update

As the university is offering an in-person fall semester, and many of us are able to enjoy the events, activities and pastimes of fall in Ann Arbor, it’s important to continue to stay safe and vigilant regarding COVID. Please continue to stay updated on the latest news, announcements and requirements regarding COVID safety for the U-M community. The requirements may differ depending on your vaccination status, whether you’re visiting campus buildings, and other considerations.

Halloween Dos and Don'ts

Hey Wolverines! We hope that you have a great Halloween! Here are some of our do’s and don’ts to make this Halloween new, fun, and memorable!

Do pick an appropriate Halloween costume

Halloween Event

On Saturday, October 30 at 4:00pm, Beyond The Diag will be hosting a “Taste of Fall” event, outside the Michigan Union. It will include free samples of some favorite fall treats, including chili, pumpkin muffins, and cookies that you can decorate yourself! It’s also a great opportunity to learn about our program, and the support and assistance that we provide to students who live off-campus. The time will be confirmed nearer to the event, as it will depend on the kick-off time for the Michigan-MSU football game. Look out for updates and more information nearer to the event!

Off-campus Housing Fairs

As part of many in-person events on campus this fall, we’re delighted to announce the return of in-person housing fairs. There will be two fairs taking place on campus in October, where students will have an opportunity to meet with housing providers, learn more about available off-campus accommodation optionse, and also find out about support and resources offered to students living in Ann Arbor.

The housing fairs will take place as follows:

Tuesday, October 26, 12-3pm

Re-Use / Recycling in Ann Arbor

Are you leaving your rental or starting a new lease and need to get rid of trash, useful household items, or recycling? The City of Ann Arbor can help!

Welcome to Michigan events

We recognize that for all of us, the past year has been far from normal. Between masks, testing, vaccines, and other changes, there has been a lot of impact on our lives. We are so excited to be welcoming students back to Ann Arbor for in-person classes, activities and events. There are so many opportunities for you to experience student life in the city, make new friends, and re-connect with familiar faces.

Canvassing

At the beginning of the fall semester each year, the Beyond The Diag goes out into the neighborhoods of Ann Arbor, to engage with student residents. This is the 10th edition of our annual Canvassing event, and we are excited to see it return, after a one-year absence due to COVID-19. Canvassing gives us the opportunity to link up with on- and off-campus partners, to share key messages on housing, safety, community engagement and opportunities for students to get involved. This year’s Canvassing event took place on Wednesday, August 25.

Football season - night game!

There are many exciting elements to being on campus and in Ann Arbor during the fall, and chief among them is home football games at the Big House. We are excited to see fans returning to the stadium, and also recognize that there are some important steps that we can take to stay safe, and enjoy the fan experience.

The first four games of the season are all at home in Ann Arbor, and there will be lots of opportunities around campus to enjoy the atmosphere, celebrate school spirit, and be part of the pre- and post-game festivities.
