Veterans Week Activities

The University of Michigan Veteran and Military Services department is proud to present a variety of Veterans Week activities from November 7th through 11th. This annual week of programming offers opportunities for the campus community to engage in activities that celebrate veterans and educate people about the experiences of those who have served our country. All of the events are free, and programming will commence on Monday, November 7th, with a Zoom Livestream event about how “Veteran Status is a part of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.” Throughout the week there will be opportunities to talk about translating military experience into the job market, the experience of women in the military, and conversations with veterans from the Vietnam War.

One of the incredible events in the lineup of programming for Veterans week is the “Stories of Service” event from 7-9 PM in the Michigan Theater, taking place on Wednesday, November 9th. This event raises awareness and funds for Fisher House Michigan, a home away from home for veterans and their families. During the event, attendees will have the opportunity to hear moving, real life stories from veterans of all different backgrounds and experiences. The week of celebration and honoring veterans will conclude on Veterans Day, Friday November 11th, with the ceremonial lowering of the flag in the Law Quad at 5 PM and VETx from 6-8 PM in the Ross School of Business, where veteran speakers will have the opportunity to reflect on the experiences that made them the leaders that they are today. Please take some time to check out all of the different events happening on campus and help us honor our veterans in our community.
