Congratulations on reaching the end of the Fall 2022 semester! We hope you have been able to enjoy this semester, and are now preparing for some well-earned rest as you head home. As part of getting ready to leave, the Community Concerns Response Team would like to share some tips with you:
- Reach out to your neighbors and let them know your plans for Winter break. Ask them to keep an eye on things if you are leaving Ann Arbor.
- If you are planning to stay in Ann Arbor and are planning any social activities or events, be mindful of your neighbors, and consider letting them know about events ahead of time - especially events that are taking place in the evening.
- If you are leaving Ann Arbor, make sure to take or secure all your valuables, unplug electronics from outlets, and lock your doors and windows. You can lower your heat but keep it on at least 50 degrees to make sure pipes do not freeze. Clean out your fridge of perishable items.
- If you are staying in Ann Arbor, keep in touch with friends who are still in Ann Arbor. Keep roommates/friends updated if they are away from campus.
- Try to keep your sidewalk clear of snow. This is a great time of year to help your neighbors keep their driveway and sidewalk shoveled.
- To assist with snow removal and plowing of roads, move vehicles off of the road and on to driveway parking.
- Be extra cautious while traveling on foot. Make sure to wear a warm jacket. Remember that vehicles may need extra time to stop in snowy/icy conditions.
- If you have any questions or concerns throughout the break or Winter semester, please reach out to the Community Concerns Response Team at 734-647-3000. They are available 12pm-12am, on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Have a safe and restful break!
