The Golden Globes

For the past three years, everyone has been ecstatic to start the award show season with everyone’s favorite comic duo and Saturday Night Live Alums, Amy Poehler and Tina Fey. I’ve personally been a fan since they appeared in Baby Mama, but since they began their three year reign hosting the Golden Globes®, it has sent their fame to new heights. The duo’s beginning monologue was one of the funniest highlights of the entire show. Some of the Bill Cosby jokes were a little mean and too soon, that the audience didn’t even know how to respond, leaving a slightly-awkward silence in the room.

People everywhere were filled with happiness for CW's Gina Rodriguez, of Jane the Virgin for winning Best Actress in a Television Series Musical or Comedy. Her nomination was a surprise, let alone a win, but her acceptance speech was one of the most humbling, and everyone felt like she deserved this award over the Edie Falcos, Julia Louis-Dreyfuses, Lena Dunhams, and Taylor Schilings of the world. Exuberant feelings of Gina Rodriguez returned when John Legend and Common won Best Original Song for "Glory" for the Civil Movement biopic, Selma. Selma didn’t pull off any other wins for the night, but this win was very satisfying for many fans.

One of the biggest disappointments to me was that The Lego Movie was beaten out by How to Train Your Dragon 2. Everyone from all ages loved The Lego Movie, "because everything is awesome!" Everyone enjoyed the award show and a lot of people walked away with their first wins after walking away empty-handed in previous years.
