Fun December Events in and around Ann Arbor!

There is less than one week left of classes before finals begin! Finals season can often be a stressful time on campus. As the semester comes to a close, find time to destress and maintain personal health and wellness. There’s plenty to explore around Ann Arbor when you’re looking to take a study break. Here are several events coming up on campus that can help you take your mind off the stress and simply have fun!

 

December 8th 5:30-6:30pm: DMUM Skate Night at Yost

Dance Marathon is hosting an open skate at Yost Arena! $5 entrance fee and $2 skate rental.

December 8th 10pm-2am: Healthy UMix at the Michigan Union

Healthy UMix will be focused on keeping you energized before finals! There will be a wide range of healthy and active activities including an inflatable bungee run, Group X fitness classes, DIY trail mix bar and more!

December 11th, 14th, 18th & 21st: Mindfulness@Umich in Angell Hall (G243)

A comfortable and calm space for you to meditate and relieve stress. All level meditators are welcome to join! Check out the event page for specific times.

December 14th 6-8pm: Paint No Pour at Trotter Multicultural Center

Paint No Pour encourages participants to widen their cultural lens, expand their worldview, and be creative through art and plenty of paint!

December 15th & 16th 7pm, December 16th & 17th 1pm: The Nutcracker at The Power Center

The Ann Arbor Ballet Theatre performs this beloved holiday classic!

December 26th-January 7th 10am-4pm: “Hands-On Holidays” at the Hands-On Museum

A 13-day celebration of imaginative learning at the Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum! Filled with science experiments, projects, and performers, it will surely be a fun place to be in Ann Arbor.

December 26-31: Wild Lights at the Detroit Zoo

The Detroit Zoo will be lit with more than 5 million LED lights throughout the front half of the Zoo. Enjoy holiday entertainment and special activities during this special event! Check out the Detroit Zoo’s website for hours of operation. 

December 27th 8-9pm: Ann Arbor Area Swing Dance at the Campus Chapel

Come by the Campus Chapel on Geddes to receive a free lesson in swing dancing!

December 31st-January 1st: New Year’s Eve “D” Drop in Campus Martius Park

Come down to Campus Martius Park in Detroit for a New Year’s celebration complete with ice skating and performances!
