Find Ways to Serve the Local Community

It can be hard figuring out where to spend your time serving - Connect 2 Community makes it easier. Managed by the University of Michigan’s Ginsberg Center (ginsberg.umich.edu), in collaboration with United Way of Washtenaw County and Eastern Michigan University, Connect 2 Community is an online platform that connects University of Michigan students (and staff or faculty!) to service opportunities in the local community. With over 300 volunteer opportunities ranging from one-time events to year commitments, there’s something for everyone.

Use Connect2Community.umich.edu to:

  • Search through hundreds of community-identified service opportunities that match your time availability, skills, and interest. Get started with our “How to Search” page here.

  • Use the “Map View” tool to search opportunities that are walking distance from campus, or on a bus route.

  • Find opportunities for your student organization, class, or group of friends by filtering by “groups.” Check out our start-to-finish group volunteering guide here.

  • After the experience, Use Connect 2 Community to record your volunteer hours! It will create an automatic Volunteer Resume for you to export.

Already doing work in the community, or need support getting started? As a center that strives to prepare students for their interactions with the broader community, The Ginsberg Center can offer support and resources to you or your student group, such as: group workshops, advising appointments, and transportation. Fill out a service request here, or stop by our building at 1024 Hill St.
