This year marks the 40th anniversary of the Blood Battle versus Ohio State! From October 27th to November 23rd there will be blood drives across campus where you can not only help save lives but we can beat the Buckeyes for the most pints donated. Blood shortages are a big issue - only 37% of the U.S. population is able to donate blood and of that small percentage, only 10% do so annually. An hour of your time can save up to three lives.
If you would like to learn more about donating blood and sign up for a blood drive, check out the Blood Battle website and click on the “Donate” button to make sure every seat is filled on our campus. You can also go onto the American Red Cross website and use sponsor code “goblue” to find all eligible drives. All donors will receive a Blood Battle t-shirt and a coupon for Washtenaw Dairy ice cream (yum!) while supplies last. Also you will be entered into a drawing for a chance to win 1 of 3 $10 gift cards to M36 Coffee Roasters, 1 of 2 $25 MDen gift cards, and 1 of 3 gift certificates to Buffalo Wild Wings.
Make sure when you come to donate to drink extra water the day of, eat iron rich foods leading up to your donation, complete your Rapid Pass to make checking in even easier, and just relax - the nurses are very experienced, and you will be done before you know it!
