Backpacking and Choosing Classes the Best Way Possible!

Summer is coming up and the school year is nearly over, but you still have to figure out what courses you are going to schedule for fall semester. As backpacking season approaches, many students are stressed, anxious, and confused about which classes to take for the following semester. Start by checking out your major requirements on the website for your school or college. Then, fill in your schedule and other requirements with electives courses that suit your unique interests.

On the LSA Course Guide website, you are able to view every course profile at this university. Once searching for a class and clicking on a specific section, click the blue Course Profile (ART) button on the right-hand side of the page. This will allow you to view a general course description and the grade distributions for previous semesters. Remember the course evaluations that your professors ask you to complete every semester? Through the LSA course guide, you can access class and professor feedback previous student responses. The site will also show you class standing, degree pursuing, and school/college enrollment. The Course Profile Academic Reporting Tool is a new form of data visualization that will help students and professors make informed decisions about their classes.

If you are still having difficulty choosing between classes, don't worry! You can always reach out to your academic advisor or schedule an appointment with your major or minor department. Each school and college at the university has a variety of academic advising resources that can be found online.

Once you have filled your class backpack, make sure to double check the date and time you are scheduled to enroll for classes! Backpack and enroll as soon as you can to have the best chance of getting into all the classes you want.
