April showers bring May flowers: Learning to dance in the rain

After a winter that feels neverending, spring is such an exciting time! We are all ready for warmer weather and sunny skies but unfortunately, springtime often brings more rain. But the weather doesn’t have to dampen your spirits, especially during finals time. Here are a list of ways that you can have fun when the weather forecast is less than ideal:

  • Catch a movie downtown at the State theater where State St meets E Liberty St right by central campus - they show a good mix of popular films and lesser-known artistic works if you’d like to discover a new favorite movie.

  • Snag an umbrella and take a look around Nickels Arcade or Kerrytown Market to get some cover from the rain and look at some really interesting shops, grab a coffee and browse.

  • Play some arcade games with your friends at Pinball Pete's on South University and win some cool prizes.

  • If you’re looking for something more active, check out Planet Rock Climbing Gym. You can get a 1:1 tutorial, or for experienced climbers, just bring your gear and start scaling!

  • If you’re a cat lover, then there may not be a better way to spend a dreary day than with adorable cats at Tiny Lions Cat Cafe. These are cats looking to be adopted to their forever homes. The cafe hosts trivia events, yoga with cats, and it is also a great place to volunteer.

  • Go bowling at Bel-Mark Lanes while enjoying some food and drinks, or maybe even a little Friday night karaoke, if you’re ready to grab the mic!

  • Go on a coffee date with a friend at M36 Coffee Roasters on South University or Roos Roast on E Liberty St, to take a delicious break from studying

There are so many places to shop, eat, and have fun in Ann Arbor that don’t depend on a sunshiny day. Summer is almost here and the semester is almost over. Until then - have fun!
