St. Patrick’s Day (March 17th) and the days around it are often a time when many in our community make plans to socialize and have fun. St. Patrick’s Day coincides with the start of spring, warmer weather (hopefully!), and the beginning of the March Madness basketball tournament. We also know that some of these activities can come with increased risks of harm from alcohol and other drugs. For many years, Beyond The Diag has worked with campus partners, including the Division of Public Safety and Security (DPSS) and Wolverine Wellness, to offer activities to provide some fun, alcohol-free engagement options and reduce the risk of harm. This year is no different and we are excited to announce several events taking place on campus.
Bagel Outreach
The Beyond The Diag bagel distribution activity will be taking place again this year. It’s an opportunity to grab a bagel, how to celebrate safely, and pick up some fun swag! This year’s events will take place on Saturday, March 14, and Tuesday, March 17. Both sessions will take place 11am-1pm on The Diag.
Shamrock Showdown at the Union!
As a new addition to the events available to students,, there will be an evening of fun taking place at the Michigan Union on Tuesday, March 17th, 7:00-10:00pm. This event will include a video game competition, other interactive games, fun treats, and swag from campus partners. This event is an expansion of great work that has been led by DPSS in our residence halls, and an opportunity to connect with more of the student community on St Patrick's Day.
