Belonging can start with something as simple as a seat at the table. At Maizie’s Kitchen & Market on Central Campus and Fireside Café on North Campus, the Share My Table program makes it easier for students to connect during mealtime. With color-coded cards, students can signal whether they’re open to sharing a table or would prefer some quiet time. It’s a small gesture that creates space for new conversations, spontaneous friendships, and a reminder that you don’t have to eat alone - unless you want to.
Michigan Dining also helps foster belonging through Heritage Month events, where food becomes a way to celebrate culture and community. Hosted in partnership with campus groups, these events invite students to come together during their heritage month to enjoy meaningful dishes, traditions, and stories. It’s a chance to honor your own culture while learning more about the diverse backgrounds of your fellow Wolverines.
Whether it’s pulling up a chair with someone new or celebrating culture through food, Michigan Dining is helping create spaces where everyone feels welcome - and where belonging is always on the menu.
