The Spectrum Center’s Lavender Graduation is coming up! Lavender Graduation is the university’s annual celebration of the accomplishments and contributions of LGBTQIA2S+ graduates. This is an annual tradition that began at the University of Michigan and has become a signature program for LGBTQIA2S+ students in postsecondary education across the United States. Our Lavender Graduation ceremony will be held on Tuesday, April 16 from 5:00-7:15pm in the Rogel Ballroom (Michigan Union, 2nd floor). We are asking for some extra support in getting out the word and ensuring the event is successful.
What can you do to support the 2024 Lavender class and our Lavender Graduation events?

If you happen to be or know any LGBTQ+ identifying students who are graduating or have graduated December 2023 - August 2024, please let them know that the Lavender Graduation is for them! Completing this form allows students to sign up to attend the ceremony, receive Lavender Graduation regalia, and be recognized as a member of the Lavender Class! Students do not need to attend the ceremony to take advantage of the free items or recognition. Please note - this form closes on Monday, April 1st at 10:00pm.
Nominate a student for an award
If any of those LGBTQ+ graduating students you know (or yourself!) have been doing excellent work for the community, give them a chance to be recognized by nominating them for a Lavender Graduation award. The categories are:
- Ronni Sanlo Cornerstone Award
- Excellence in Student Leadership Award
- Intersectional Advocacy Award
- Inspirational Influence Award
- Outstanding Volunteer of the Year Award
Submit your nominations by Sunday, March 24th at 10:00pm using this form.
Attend the ceremony
Those affiliated with U-M (staff, faculty, alumni, etc) are also invited to attend the ceremony and reception. Please join us in celebrating the hard work of our students and help build that sense of community that makes events like this so special. Click here to register.
