The Ann Arbor Police Department noted an increase in break-ins at residential addresses in the city towards the end of August. To keep your home (and your property) secure, please follow these simple steps:
- Always lock your doors - both your car and home
- Keep valuable property out of sight and away from windows
- Register your property with DPSS
During periods of warmer weather, it may be tempting to leave doors and windows open. Please don’t - criminals may view this as an easy target. If you have opened windows for ventilation, remember to close and lock the windows before you leave the house.
