Where to Grab Your Groceries

Is this your first time living off campus? Don’t fret about losing your meal plan. We’ve got some great tips for grocery shopping in Ann Arbor!

Ann Arbor Farmer’s Market

Located in Kerrytown near Zingerman’s Delicatessan, the Ann Arbor Farmer’s Market  is a great place to pick up produce, breads, and other artisan products on a budget. This is a healthy way to maintain a balanced diet filled with fresh fruits and vegetables while also supporting local Michigan farms. The Farmer’s Market is open Wednesdays and Saturdays from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM between May and December and Saturdays from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM between January and April. Be sure to bring some cash or stop by an ATM on your way to the market!

Sparrow Market

After browsing the Farmer’s Market, step inside Sparrow Market, an old fashioned grocery store and meat shop located inside Kerrytown Market and Shops. Stop by the butcher counter in the back of the shop for fresh, reasonably priced meat and poultry.

People’s Food Co-Op

Located near the corner of Fourth Avenue and Catherine Street, the People’s Food Co-Op is another easily accessible place to pick up farm fresh fruits and veggies. This store is also fully stocked with groceries and necessities, including many specialty food items. If you frequent the Co-op, you can become a member and receive special weekly deals! However, you do not need to be a member to enjoy shopping local produce at this conveniently located store.

Argus Farm Stop

With two locations near campus, Argus Farm Stop is another great place to buy local produce, meats, dairy and artisanal goods. This everyday farmer’s market also brews Roos Roast Coffee so you can grab a drink while you shop! Argus Farm Stop is located just a few blocks past Main St. at 325 West Liberty St. and near the Big House at 1200 Packard Rd.

Looking for a wider variety of items? Hop on The Ride or grab a Zipcar to shop at these other nearby stores.

Trader Joe’s

Located on East Stadium Boulevard and just a ten minute drive from Central Campus, Trader Joe’s has a wide selection of fresh produce, meats, and dairy. If you’re short on time and money, Trader Joe’s also carries plenty of affordable fresh and frozen meals that are easy to pack for a quick lunch between classes.

Kroger
