Late Night Transportation

Though being on campus late at night can seem isolating, the University and city of Ann Arbor have many resources available to students to ensure that safe transportation around campus is accessible to everyone.

The first offering is Safe Ride. Safe Ride is a free service affiliated with the University that picks up students from either of the undergraduate libraries, Shapiro on Central Campus or the Duderstadt on North Campus, and offers a safe mode of transport home. It runs from 10pm-2am and operators can be reached at 734-647-8000.

The second mode of transportation offered late at night are the bus routes. The Bursley-Baits and Northwood (serving most of North Campus), and Night Owl (serving most of Central campus), both run until 3am on all days of the week, and are free to students. Maps of all bus routes can be found on the University of Michigan App right on your phone!

Though not affiliated with the University, Ann Arbor also offers many different taxi services, such as Blue Cab, RideHome, State Street Ride, Night Ride, or Amazing Blue Taxi, as well as Uber. While not free, drivers are usually willing to pick up students traveling across campus or further. These services are available throughout the night at anytime, and Uber has a convenient app for your iPhone or Android that allows you to track your driver, and your wait time, as well as input your location and destination using their GPS system. Uber connects to your credit card, and auto-pays after you have reached your destination. Maximize your safety by traveling with a friend!
