Beyond the Diag - Off Campus Housing

New Year, New Classes, New You! Time Management in the Winter semester

Time management is a skill that everyone needs to build throughout their lives. It is possible to learn how to manage your time effectively and efficiently based on your schedule and habits. Additionally, it is important to schedule time for yourself, to support healthy habits and maintain energy so that you can complete your daily tasks. Here are some useful tips to help you manage your academic and personal time this new semester.

Time management tips:

  1. Create a schedule for your day and stick to it

Winter Housing Fair

Last semester, Beyond The Diag hosted two in-person Housing Fairs. , which offered students an opportunity to connect with housing providers, to learn more about off-campus housing options and find out about support for students who live off-campus. If you missed out on our housing fairs in the Fall or would like to find out more about your off-campus options, don’t panic! Beyond The Diag is hosting our Winter Housing Fair on Thursday, February 17th from noon to 3pm in the Rogel Ballroom, on the second floor of the Michigan Union.

Winter Office Hours

Beyond the Diag will be hosting in-person office hours again this semester. Our office hours are available to all University of Michigan students, to answer questions or address concerns about off-campus living. During our office hours, a student team member will be available to provide information and resources about living off-campus. Our student staff members are upper-class and graduate students, and are familiar with some of the experiences, benefits, and challenges that can come with living off-campus.

Michigan Athletics

While the football season is behind us, many other sports’ seasons are in full swing. Women’s Basketball is looking very dominant, and tickets are still available for upcoming games versus Indiana (1/31) and Iowa (2/6). The Men’s Basketball team heads to East Lansing for a key match-up against Michigan State on January 29, before big home games in February versus Nebraska, Purdue and Ohio State. The Ohio State game will be a “Blue Out”, so if you’re heading to Crisler, make sure you plan your outfit!

COVID-19 Booster Submission

As part of the university’s continuing plan to keep our community safe, all staff, faculty and students are required to report that they have received their COVID-19 booster. A booster is an additional dose of vaccine, given at least six months after a primary series of COVID-19 vaccination, or two months after the Johnson & Johnson (Janssen) vaccine. Please note that this information needs to be reported by Friday, February 4, 2022.

Home Safety during Winter Break

Unfortunately, the holidays are a time when student properties are targeted for break-ins, as criminals anticipate that properties may be unoccupied during the break and may still contain electronics and other valuables.

The Central Student Government (CSG) provides a service to take students to and from the Detroit airport for certain breaks. The service runs between Ann Arbor and Detroit Metropolitan Airport (DTW) during high-traffic times before and after the Thanksgiving and Winter breaks.

Mask Up - Stay Safe - Get Boosted

If you are planning to travel over the winter break, please consider testing as a part of your travel preparations. Testing is an important tool for reducing the spread of COVID-19. Make sure you know about testing requirements and options available. Learn more

Extra support from CAPS

We realize that finals can be a time of added stress for many students, and CAPS (Counseling and Psychological Services) is offering a number of services and support options in the lead up to the end of semester and beyond.

Finals and Football

If you have finals exams, make sure you still schedule time in your day to rest. Whether it be a half hour for lunch, an extra few minutes in the morning to meditate, or an afternoon workout class, scheduling time in your day to rest will make you more productive when it is time to study.
