Survive and Thrive Winter at Michigan

As temperatures drop and snow covers the city, Ann Arbor seems to become a completely different town from the busy summer hotspot known for everything from outdoor concerts to performances in the Arb to students and families relaxing and playing frisbee in the Diag. Those who know it best, however, find that it still boasts tons of fun activities for Ann Arborites willing to brave the cold as well as those who would rather find someplace warm, cozy, and - most importantly - indoors to hide from the winter winds.

While Michigan’s well-known winter chill seems to be hitting us a bit late this year, here are some spots that are necessary for anyone in Ann Arbor hoping to stock up on winter apparel:

  • Bivouac, located on S State Street, carries outdoor clothing for adventurers of all ages

  • Moosejaw, found downtown on Main Street, sells winter wear along with gear for any outdoor plans you may have in mind

  • At Briarwood Mall, on Briarwood Cir, you can find a number stores with all the winter clothing you could hope for, just a short car or bus ride away

  • Ann Arbor Salvation Army Thrift Store sells gently used steals as well!

Once you’re dressed for the weather, check out some of Ann Arbor’s winter attractions:

And finally, remember to stay safe, healthy, and informed as you enjoy the season!

Enjoy the winter, as it will be over before you know it!
