Spring Break Safety Tips

Whether you are going to a beach with friends, exploring a city, or taking a road trip, Spring Break is a great time to make memories that will last forever. Regardless of where you are traveling to or what you are doing, here are some simple ways to make the most out of your week off by staying safe!

1.  Bring a backup ID and make copies of important information. This is especially true when traveling abroad. Without these backups it can be difficult to return home, especially when flying, which is not only expensive, but can ruin an entire trip.

2.  Sunscreen! Sunscreen! Sunscreen! Although it can be tempting to maximize your tan when going to a tropical location, there can be major sunburn consequences from just one bad burn. Even if you aren’t going somewhere warm save yourself from harm by taking just a few minutes to apply sunscreen and avoid ending up looking like a lobster with painful blisters.

3. When staying in a hotel, taking advantage of the services can help you not only have a great time, but also stay safe. Ask the front desk for the best locations in the area so you can really experience all that city has to offer, and use your resources to call taxis for you instead of hailing a taxi on your own. It's also advised to keep your valuables in the hotel room safe.

4. It may seem like common sense but there is power in numbers, and it is always best to stick with your group. Whether it is just going to the beach or spending an entire night out on the town, the buddy system is a great way to always ensure everyone stays safe together.

5. Always have a map with you. This way even if your phone fails you, you won’t be totally lost. Nothing can ruin a road trip like getting lost in the middle of nowhere or being unable to find your hotel in a city. Request a map from AAA or the local visitors center.

6. For fun, here are some awesome roadtrip tricks!
