What can you do to avoid seasonal colds and flu, and avoid giving them to others? Top options are:
- Get a flu shot – this is the #1 most effective means to avoid flu.
- Cover your coughs and sneezes – keep it to yourself.
- Wash your hands and/or use hand sanitizer – wash those germs away.
On campus, you can get a flu shot:
- At University Health Service (UHS) -- $49, some insurances accepted -- by appointment, call 734-764-8320
- At campus clinics, provided by Michigan Visiting Care, in collaboration with UHS – $25, some insurances accepted, walk-in, no appointment needed:
- Nov 18, 10 AM - 2 PM, @ Palmer Commons, Great Lakes Central Room
- Dec 1, 10 AM - 2 PM @ Michigan Union, Kuenzel Room
- Dec 3, noon - 4 PM @ Michigan League, Vandenberg Room

After you get your flu shot, be sure to help U-M beat MSU in the College Flu Vaccination Challenge. Here's how it works:
- Get a flu shot anywhere you like
- Answer 3 quick survey questions
Finally, what if you do come down with MPlague? UHS’ Colds and Flu webpage explains when self-care is okay, and when to get medical care. And UHS offers Advice by Phone, so you can stay warm in bed.
