Health and Wellbeing during COVID-19

It has been several months since COVID-19 landed on our doorsteps and we are still gauging how to navigate this new reality. We recognize that life as a student during a pandemic looks very different, and it’s important to be mindful about the impacts on our health. Zoom fatigue is something many of us have experienced, and the challenges of social distancing and isolation can affect our physical, mental and emotional health. Here are some useful reminders and suggestions for how to maintain good health and wellbeing during this time.

Keep in mind the Wolverine Culture of Care

  • Maintain a minimum distance of 6ft between yourself and others when in public spaces

  • Wear a mask that covers your nose and mouth

  • Wash your hands thoroughly and often

  • Monitor yourself for symptoms

  • If you think that you may have been exposed to COVID-19 or are experiencing symptoms, please contact UHS immediately for further support - 734-764-8320

  • Take a look at the Culture of Care for more ways to stay healthy and safe

Don’t be too hard on yourself

  • This is an unprecedented time, and it’s important to remember to give yourself a break. Even if you don’t finish everything on your to-do list, congratulate yourself for what you did accomplish.

Connect with friends and family

  • Staying connected is necessary now more than ever to get through this time. Plan check-ins with those around you - especially if you’re not able to meet as often face-to-face.

Get some fresh air

  • Take some time to take a break from the screen! Whether you go for a walk or a jog, or just opening a window, Fall is a great time to change up your routine.

Don’t forget...

  • If you feel sick, contact your healthcare provider for advice, and stay home.

  • Keep an eye on the Maize & Blueprint website for updates on the university’s response to COVID-19.
