Departure Testing

Hello, fellow Wolverines!

Thanksgiving is right around the corner, and our fall semester is almost at its end. As you are making plans to return home, please make sure that a pre-departure COVID test is on your list. The University announced that all students can receive a free COVID-19 test, in preparation for the departure from campus.

Please note that all undergraduate students living in on-campus housing are required to be tested before departure, and all other students are strongly encouraged to do so.

With COVID-19 cases reaching record highs nationwide everyday, this testing requirement can help prevent bringing viruses to families with vulnerable individuals as students return to their hometowns. Though some students may not be leaving and may reside near the campus permanently, they also may sign up for testing during the allotted time. What steps should I take before and after my test?

  1. Book your appointment here. Please note that appointment slots are filling fast, so book  and take your test as soon as possible. Allow enough time to receive test results prior to departing campus.

  2. Please follow all public health guidelines before, during, and after your appointment, including wearing a mask, adhering to social distance, and maintaining good hand hygiene.

  3. Don’t eat or drink for 30 minutes prior to taking your test (water is an exception).

  4. Your test results will be sent to you electronically, within 48-72 hours.

Current testing locations (please note that available appointments may vary by date, time and location):

Palmer Commons, Great Lakes Room (fourth floor)

Pierpont Commons, Boulevard Room (first floor mezzanine, behind Fireside Cafe)

Michigan Union, Anderson Room (first floor)

Please also note that there will be some limited testing opportunities at Palmer Commons, on Monday, November 23 and Tuesday, November 24. There will also be further testing available at a reduced level, after Thanksgiving until December 18.  Please click here for more details on how to book one of these sessions.
