Be Active in Ann Arbor for Less

  1. Take a visit to Nichol’s Arboretum. The Arb is made up of 123 acres filled with native and exotic trees perfect for viewing on a walk or run. Stop by the Huron River on your way through the trails to cool off.
  2. Play beach volleyball on the North Campus Grove.  The recently reconstructed North Campus Grove features a beach volleyball court open to all students. Make sure to bring your own ball and a group of friends to play with!
  3. Visit the IMSB, NCRB, or CCRB. Located on South, North, and Central campuses, the University of Michigan Recreation Buildings are free to all students enrolled at the university, part-time and full-time. These buildings offer great spaces for regular workouts when the spring rain hits. Check out the 2-for-1 Group X deal on St. Patrick's Day, March 17, 2017.
  4. Throw a Frisbee on the Central Campus Diag. Enjoy the spring weather on the Diag with a group of friends while also getting exercise. This is easy to do between classes or spend the afternoon relaxing in the heart of campus.
  5. Skate at the Ann Arbor Skate Park. The skate park is roughly 30,000 square feet and completely free to use. It’s a great place to get some skating in whether you like rails, ramps, or bowls.
  6. Inner-tube down the Huron River. Head to a store (such as Meijer) and pick up an inner-tube to float down the river. As the weather warms up, the Huron River gets increasingly busy, so make sure to get your float in early
  7. Explore Ann Arbor on your bike. Whether you have a road bike or mountain bike, Ann Arbor is a great place to explore. Popular destinations include the Huron River, the North Campus fountain, and various parks around Ann Arbor.
  8. Organize a pick-up game on Palmer Field. Palmer Field is home to tennis courts, basketball courts, a track, and a wide-open field perfect for pick-up soccer. Whether you play the same sports as your friends or not, you can all find something to do at Palmer Field.
  9. Play “deck-hockey” outside of Mojo. Grab some friends and head over to Mojo to play some school-yard puck. Make sure to come prepared with rollerblades or sneakers and your favorite hockey stick.
  10. Download MindBody to find FREE fitness classes. MindBody is an app that shows you fitness courses in your area for free. In the past these classes have been yoga, cycling, and boxing along with many others.
