UHS Helps YOU Stay in the BLUE

The Stay in the Blue program was designed by University Health Services (UHS) at the University of Michigan to help students have a good time while still being safe and keeping their blood alcohol level at or below .06.

One of the ways students can Stay in the Blue is by downloading the Stay in the Blue App from Google PlayStore or Itunes. The app has a lot of great features including a BAC calculator, which allows students to enter their gender, weight, the number and types of drinks over time to calculate their blood alcohol content.

The app helps students identify if their drinking behavior is putting them in a risky red zone or safe blue zone. In addition, the app has a “Call-a-Cab” feature that uses the phone’s GPS location to call a cab in just one click! There’s also a “Tracker” function to help students keep track their drinks over time and ensure that they are staying in the blue. Lastly, the app also provides a list of fun events happening in Ann Arbor. If you’re interested in learning more about the app, click here!

In addition to the app, students have found multiple strategies to Stay in the Blue. For example, students find that eating foods high in protein or high in fat immediately before and while drinking helps to keep them in the blue. In addition, students dilute their alcohol with non-carbonated mixers to help them stay in the blue. Remember, have fun, be safe, and stay in the blue!
