Many students who live off campus plan to move out of their house or apartment this spring and probably have bulky items that need to be recycled or thrown away. According to a city ordinance, all curbside trash must fit within city-issued trash and recycling bins, and violators are subject to a minimum fine of $100. The problem is that many bulky items (desks, chairs, couches, and TV stands, etc.) cannot fit into the city-issued bins. It is difficult to figure out where and what to do with these items to avoid receiving a fine. Luckily, the city has foreseen this difficulty for students moving out in the spring and the city of Ann Arbor will be offering a free solid waste drop off site, located at East University and Oakland.
